I am happy to share that I was recently awarded a J. William Fulbright US Student Research Fellowship to conduct my dissertation research in Sri Lanka from 2018 through 2019. While I won't be leaving the US until November 2018, I'm excited to return to Sri Lanka and I'll be busy preparing for my trip until then.

I've never written a blog before...and I guess I'm late to start one now. But here I'll be posting regular updates, photos, and videos to share with family, friends, and strangers on the internet. That way, I'll have a nice record of my experience abroad (and maybe I won't get annoyed having to repeat my stories over and over again).

As November approaches, I'm excited and terrified. I hope that my writing conveys a sense of the ups and downs of life abroad as a graduate student that chases big, gray animals. Should make for a good blog, right?
